The Çotanak Arena Stadium is built in Giresun at the eastern Black Sea coast of Turkey. This is a sports complex of two blocks that house a football stadium and an olympic swimming pool. The designer was inspired by the husk of the hazelnut which is the symbol and agricultural jewel of Türkiye’s Black Sea region. The employer preferred our Fibrostone® façade cladding that is mounted on steel frames.
The 22.000 viewer capacity football stadium was built by Siyah Kalem Engineering. It will host international matches as well as the matches of the local football team.
The Olympic swimming pool can house 1.200 spectators. There are volleyball and basketball fields with 144 spectator seats as well as shops.
The aim is to turn the sports complex into a point of attraction for cycling, wrestling, archery, weightlifting, judo, basketball, water polo, and marksmanship enthusiasts.

The architect demanded less grouts on the surfaces of the arches; therefore, we used large steel-framed panels. The arches were built by uniting two panels; the lower parts of the arches opened up to the front and to the sides to form the panel supports. Priority was given to solving the problem of uniting the precast panels with aluminium awnings. The openings between the precast arches were closed by awnings that are colored to match Giresunspor’s team colors.
Çotanak Arena Stadium is expected to help develop Turkish sports branches and to become the city’s landmark.
