Chinese architects Zhang Xiao Fang and Shang Huang and TF International designed the Chinese Cultural Center at Belgrade/Serbia. Our Fibrolight® and Fibro- M® brands for this building reflect the contemporary Chinese architecture which respects the environment and is sustainable.

This building, which aims to represent Chinese culture, has a construction area of 32.340 square meters and houses a hotel, business offices, flats and a cultural center. The size of this building’s mass reaches its allowed limits and its façade design is inspired by the world’s oldest art, namely, the antique Chinese art of painting named “guohua”.

A double layered façade was planned that would enable the building’s ventilation. This building’s initial façade layer is of glass. The building’s height is 36.7 meters.

“The second façade layer is made of our UHPC brands Fibro-M® and Fibrolight ®. An abstract Chinese image was reflected on the façade, thanks to our Fibrolight® brand.”

We produced 1.200 out of 1.365 façade panels one by one. 12.500 pieces of glass parts were in 8 different dimensions and they were combined in different sequences. The planning and execution of this very complex project was handled with the utmost sensitivity. We streamlined the production process at our Düzce plant and finished it in a record time of 6 months. We transported the materials to Serbia. The glass pieces were assembled mechanically with specially designed stainless steel hooks on side.

The biggest difficulty was to have a weight of 110 kg/square meter at the outer surface including the panels, glass pieces and the anchorages. Each panel was 5.5 meters high and 1.2 meters wide with 40 mm of thickness. We designed and produced thickened frames at the panels so that they wouldn’t bend. The concrete floor height was 350 cm from the third floor up to the eighth floor but the panels were 360 cm high. This means that we changed the anchorage positions on each panel for each floor.

This was a very complex project but the structural quality of our Fibro-M® and Fibrolight® panels guaranteed our success.
