PROJECT DETAILS

PROJECT NAME : Mercury Tower
PROJECT LOCATION : Malta
PROJECT GROUP : RESIDENCE
PRODUCT BRANDS USED : FİBROBETON® FİBROCEPHE® / FİBROPANEL®

The Mercury Tower is integrated with a historic building in Paceville at the east of the island. It has a dynamic form and we used Fibro-Multiform® for the cladding because the flexibility of this material enables the easy production of complex geometries.

The Mercury Tower reflects Zaha Hadid’s characteristic architectural language. It was designed as a complex that houses residences, commercial units and a boutique hotel. The tower’s design blends historic references with ultra modern styles. A monument from the 19th century is at the heart of the design. The tower’s 31 floors are designed as residences. The building’s design underlines the contrast and the totality of the old and the contemporary.

Form and Product Variety

The variety in the design called for a variety of materials and we developed a lot of unique systems for the façades. We used steel framed, non-insulating panels on the flat surfaces but FİBRO-MULTİFORM® on the building’s curvatures.

A blended system dressed the main bulk of the building as well as the balcony surfaces. It was easy to construct the grooves with the FİBROBETON® panels.

Composite luminaires were mounted on the panels during production and in the end, the whole façade looks like a monolithic panel.

“Throughout the project, a mixed and special façade system was implemented in which our three brands worked together. The FİBRO-MULTİFORM® design has reflected the mass movement exactly.”
